Community Users Membership Policy


Users not affiliated with Gulf University for Science & Technology (GUST) may utilize Library services by obtaining a Library membership.

To become a member, the applicant must:

1.         Fill out a Community Users Membership Form, available at the Circulation Desk.

2.         Submit the form along with a copy of their civil ID, two stamp-sized photos, and a refundable deposit of KD 50/- only.

Community users may search the library catalogue and browse the Library’s web site from off-campus; however, due to Copyright and licensing issues they are not eligible to access the online resources.

Members of the community may utilize onsite Library services after 2:00 p.m. on working days only.

Community users may borrow up to 3 books at a time.

The loan period is 15 days and items may be renewed twice.

  • A fine of 100 Fils per day, per book (up to a maximum of 15 days) is charged unless the book is returned before the loan period expires.
  • If Community users lose an item, they will be charged the replacement cost of the item, a KD 10/- processing fee and any overdue fines that apply.


  • In order to obtain a refund of the deposit, users must fill a Refund Request Form available at the Circulation Desk; refunds will be made in cash only.
  • The refund requests will be processed during working days: Sunday to Thursday, and between 8:30 am and 2:30 pm.
